Put Kinden on your iPhone
About 5 minutes. You need your iPhone or iPad, your email, and an invite code from your family organiser. Setting up a new family? Start with Organiser setup.
1. Install the app
- Watch for an email from TestFlight saying you were invited to test Kinden. It goes to your Apple ID email.
- On your iPhone, install TestFlight from the App Store (it is free, made by Apple).
- Open the invite email on the same iPhone and tap View in TestFlight, then Accept and Install.
- Kinden is now on your home screen. It updates itself through TestFlight.
Kids with Ask to Buy: a parent approves the TestFlight download on their own phone.
2. Join the family
- Open Kinden. Allow notifications if you want reminders (you can say no).
- Ask your organiser for an invite code. It works once and lasts 7 days.
- Go to the Settings tab. Type the code into Invite code first.
- Enter your email and tap Email me a sign-in link.
- Open that email on the same iPhone and tap the link. Kinden opens and you are in.
- On the Todos tab, tap the Me menu at the top and pick yourself, so "Assigned to me" and your colours are right.
Organiser setup (once per family)
- Install Kinden as in step 1.
- Open Settings > Family members. Rename, add or remove people so the list matches your family. Do this before you sign in: after sync, people can be renamed but not removed.
- In Sync, leave Invite code empty, enter your email and sign in with the link. Signing in without a code creates your family and uploads it.
- For each other person: in Sync > Invite, pick them and tap Get code. Send them the code and a link to this page.
A code works once and expires after 7 days. Lost or expired? Get a new one the same way.
If something goes wrong
- The link opened Safari, not Kinden
- Open the email on the iPhone where Kinden is installed. Or long-press the link, copy it, and paste it into Code or link in Settings.
- I see an empty family
- You signed in without the invite code. Settings > Sign out, ask for a new code, type it in first, then sign in again.
- No sign-in email arrived
- Check spam, wait a minute, then tell your organiser.
- TestFlight says the build expired
- Your organiser uploads a new one; TestFlight will offer it. Your lists are safe either way.
- No email of your own (younger kids)
- Use a parent's phone or iPad: sign in once as the parent, then switch the Me menu to the kid.
